In practice, cauldrons serve multiple purposes. They can be used with charcoal discs to burn herbs, petitions, and incense during spellwork and rituals. They’re also excellent vessels for mixing potions, crafting herbal goodies, and brewing magical infusions, much like their historical counterparts.

Because of their dual nature—both a container and often used with open flames—cauldrons are commonly associated with the element of Fire. 

In folklore, the cauldron takes on an even more magical role. Cerridwen, the Welsh crone goddess, possessed a cauldron of wisdom, while The Dagda, the Irish god-king, owned a cauldron that never emptied. These legends, along with literary depictions such as the three witches in Macbeth, cemented the cauldron’s place as an enduring symbol of magic and transformation.
