What is Amazonite 

Amazonite, also known as Amazonstone, is a green tectosilicate mineral, a variety of the potassium feldspar called microcline. Its chemical formula is KAlSi3O8, which is polymorphic to orthoclase.

Where is Amazonite Found? 

Amazonite is also known as the "Amazon stone," because it was thought to have been discovered at the Amazon River Basin in Brazil. However, there are actually no deposits found there and instead amazonite is present in other parts of Brazil, Colorado and Virginia in the United States, Australia and Madagascar.

Amazonite is found in hydrothermal veins, pegmatites, granite pegmatites, schists and gneisses, and also as grains in sedimentary rocks. It is formed in deep-sea igneous rocks that once cooled very slowly. The most important source of amazonite is currently in India.
